Portraits

Doug Rugh, CM, has been painting portraits in oil for over 30 years and has had over 2,000 live sessions with a model. The artist is available to paint portraits of adults, children and animals. Finished compositions may be of a head and shoulders or a full-size full-length subject. More than one person can be included in the painting and plain backgrounds, interiors or other locations can be used as a backdrop. The artist will be happy to discuss any questions you may have about portrait sittings and framing and will help you decide on all aspects of a formal or casual portrait.

Procedure

The artist takes photographs with controlled lighting in the Falmouth, Cape Cod studio (or at your location) in a session that takes about half an hour or so. A photo composite showing composition and expression will be made from the reference photographs for approval and the final size will be chosen. Portraits generally take from 3 weeks to 3 months based on complexity and size.

Framing

Custom framing is included in the price unless the client would rather have their own framing done.

Deposit

A deposit is not required. The artist guarantees that the client only need pay for a completed portrait that represents a pleasing likeness.

Existing Client Photos

The artist can also work from given photos if the client already has special images to work from.

Travel Expense

Non-studio location may require a per diem depending on distance from the studio.
